How Does Dryfast Foam Actually Work?

Most conventional foam used in the home functions like a sponge, absorbing and retaining water. This isn’t a problem, since for the most part we keep our living rooms dry. But in a situation where moisture is present like aboard a boat, this can become a problem. Water, when held in conventional foam used as custom outdoor cushions, can cause cushions to rot, mold, and mildew. Fortunately, there exists a unique type of foam that is specially designed to drain and dry quickly, perfect for marine or outdoor uses.

Known as dryfast foam, this reticulated foam is the perfect material for custom marine foam bedding or patio cushions. Made to have incredibly large pores, dryfast foam appears to be wiry and you can even look into it, the size of the cells is so great. Conventional foam cells are only a fraction of the size of the dryfast foam’s for comparison. Having cells this large allows water to drain right through the material instead of retaining it. And just as easily as water, air can pass through the foam as well, helping dry retained moisture. All this, in a supportive and comfortable material, means you have a recipe for the perfect outdoor cushion.

Dryfast foam is also formulated to be antimicrobial, which is an important consideration for applications like a boat mattress that may get wet but doesn’t have the same opportunity to dry as a normal outdoor seat. Aiming a fan at a dampened dryfast foam cushion can even help dry it out.

As previously mentioned, dryfast is strong and comfortable, so you don’t have to make concessions just to have a material that will last. Essentially, if you need comfort in a damp environment, you need fast drying foam.
