Do Some Holiday Decoration with Foam
The end of every year is packed with holidays and get-togethers that bring people closer and give them reason to celebrate. Starting around Halloween and taking us through New Year’s Day, it’s hard not to catch a little bit of the season’s spirit.
One way people enjoy their holidays is through the decoration of homes, inside and out. We’ve seen winter wonderlands with enough lights to line a landing strip, and have spent many an evening carving jack-o’-lanterns. Inside the home, we have plenty of options to keep us in the spirit of the season as well, and one way to do this is with decorative foam.
The simplest way to add a little foam festivity is by taking a look at the selection of pre-cut shapes and designs at a local craft store. Learning how to cut foam into fun decorations is another method, one that’s easily and quickly done, making for a great family activity. What’s more, foam cut-outs are soft, light, and easy to store when it’s time to put them away – no worries about breaking them like a Christmas ornament, or hauling 50 pound boxes up from the basement. Creepy foam spiders can be hung from the ceiling for Halloween decorations, or a squishy green Christmas tree can be stuck directly to a wall with pins. These decorations offer a 3D foam look that can add a little flavor to the monotony of traditional décor.
And as previously mentioned, making your own holiday decorations is a terrific family DIY project. By trimming designs from sheets of colored closed-cell foam, you, friends, and family can make layered pictures, shapes, decorate rooms, or even create fun party favors. Able to be as intricate or as basic as you want, foam is a great resource for getting into the spirit of the season.
