Fan Coil Units
Most fan coil units make use of a medium of either refrigerant or chilled water (CHW) to provide cooling. The prime benefit of installing a fan coil unit that uses chilled water as the medium for cooling is that you do not have to constantly check and maintain its function, like you will have to do with a refrigerant employed fan coil unit.
Fan coil units are mostly used for industrial cooling purposes, in order to obtain low-cost and consistent cooling throughout the building. These units can also be used, and are compatible with renewable energy systems. The heating medium of a fan coil unit functions by using either refrigerant or hot water, and most units employ low temperature hot water (LTHW). Fan coils are usually connected to other services by way of an electric connection and with only 2 or 4 pipes. Hence, they are extremely flexible pertinent to their configuration, ultimate location, and their size. Other similar heating or cooling systems are generally larger in size and hence are less flexible.
