Two Temporary Roof Repair Solutions
Let’s face it: if you have a leaky roof, you have to call a roofing contractor to fix the problem.
However, that doesn’t mean you let your home collect water especially if roof damage has led to water leaks until the contractors show up to offer their expertise in terms of roof repair. Unlike concrete repair, you can actually use a couple of simple solutions to fix the problem temporarily.
Here are two temporary roof repair solutions that can make do until they arrive:
Fix #1: Plastic Sheeting
It should be difficult to find heavy plastic sheets to cover the holes that are causing the leaks. A common brand that is used is Visqueen. Use a couple of 2-by-4s so as to square off the hole and after which you can wrap the plastic around the wood and nail it down. If you don’t have roofing nails, then you can use heavy objects such as sandbags, bricks or cement blocks.
Fix #2: Roofing Felt
Found in the building materials section of any store, you can use roofing felt or tar paper too as a temporary fix for roof leaks. You’ll also need a trowel-grade roofing plastic cement as well as a trowel to carry this out. Apply the paper in overlapping layers of cement and paper from the bottom of the roof to the top.
