Why Construction Claims Are Manipulated
Written by: Lyle Charles Consulting
Dealing with claims is already a load of stress on its’ own. Dealing with claims “specialists” that find loopholes to gain lump sum payments is a downright nightmare.
Abusing the System
Most claims are based on contracts. Whether it is misprints, miscommunication, or human error, some just can’t be avoided. The risk of a claim turning into a financial burden is high. Many claims specialists abuse the system and tender low prices to make money off of other peoples mistakes. With the cost of construction already increasing by the day, the last thing that you would want to see is another party exaggerating their actions.
Don’t Hire the Wrong Consultant
Research is vital in finding the right construction claims consultant. If someone is dealing with a claim, the goal is to get it resolved without breaking too much of a sweat. Many consultants have the ability to avoid avoidable claims and mitigate the financial and emotional impact of an unavoidable claim. This could mean the difference in the thousands when it comes to finances.
On the downside, there will always be consultants out there that fail to keep their client informed. Weeks will go by without any reports or updates on their case. Lack of extensive knowledge in the field is a huge red flag and should be duly noted when interviewing a consultant.
